External Career Development Fellowship Applicants
The Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at the University of Oxford (DPAG) is a stimulating and supportive environment in which Early Career Researchers can establish their research independence as externally funded fellows.
We regularly support fellowship applications from external candidates whose professional profile and research plan align with our strategic aims. We are specifically looking for researchers seeking mentoring and non-financial sponsorship to apply for career development fellowships (including, but not limited to: Wellcome Trust Career Development Award, MRC Career Development Award, CRUK Career Development Fellowship, etc).
Researchers who succeed in securing a fellowship will be invited to establish their research group in the department, benefiting from a support package that includes comprehensive mentorship, career development training, and opportunities to recruit Oxford undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Successful candidates will have an outstanding track record in any area of physiological science with a focus on one of our core research themes: Cardiac Sciences; Cell Physiology; Development and Cell Biology; Functional Genomics; Metabolism and Endocrinology; Neuroscience.
Our work is multidisciplinary and our researchers often work across more than one theme, as well as collaborating with colleagues in the physical sciences, life sciences and clinical departments across Oxford. Our researchers have access to excellent scientific facilities and support services, the stimulating environment of the South Parks Road and Old Road Campus science areas, and the wider University of Oxford.

- Short research proposal (3 pages in total: 1 page on your previous research, 2 pages on your future plans).
- A brief cover letter, outlining why you would like to join DPAG.
If your professional profile and research proposal are strong, you will be invited to present a seminar and will have the opportunity to discuss your research interests and requirements with relevant members of the department. If required, you will also be provided with support for your fellowship application.
