Paul Volkmann
Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Dr Paul Volkmann is a clinician and neuroscientist interested in studying neural substrates of information processing, particularly in the context of sleep and the buildup of sleep pressure. He joined the Miesenböck lab in late 2022 and holds a Walter-Benjamin fellowship from the DFG (German Research Foundation) since 2024.
In his previous work at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, he investigated behavioural profiles of mouse models of psychiatric disorders, supported by a LMU doctoral fellowship. He also studied the circadian clock in relation to anxiety and how it affects communication between different brain regions.
