Lipid droplets are the main storage sites of reserve energy in the body. Fat is added to and mobilized from them in a precisely regulated process. At the heart of this regulation are perilipins, the family of proteins that are gatekeepers at the interface between a lipid droplet and the cytoplasm. We study how perilipins spatially organize fat metabolism in the cell.

Metabolic regulation has been my long-term fascination. I obtained my PhD from ETH Zurich. After at University of Geneva, I studied novel roles of gut plasticity, microbiota, and regulation of intestinal absorption in response to metabolic challenges. I joined the Klemm lab in late 2020.
