Congratulations are in order for Dr Peregrine Green, who has won a prestigious abstract award at the BCS Annual Conference.

Dr Peregrine Green has won the "Best of the Best" abstract award for cardiac rhythm management after giving a talk and poster presentation at the British Cardiovascular Society Annual Conference in Manchester.

His abstract entitled "Cardiac resynchronisation therapy acutely alters metabolic substrate uptake, correlating with improvements in systolic function and long term reverse remodelling" will be published in a special edition of ‘Heart' BMJ Journal. His listed collaborators are William D. Watson, Giovanni Luigi de Maria, Andrew J.M.L. Lewis, Oliver J Rider, and Neil Herring.

Dr Green, who was supervised by Associate Professor Neil Herring in DPAG and Associate Professor Oliver Rider of the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, and was supported by a British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Fellowship, successfully defended his DPhil thesis earlier this year.

Dr Green has been researching how reverse remodelling changes the heart from an “engine out of fuel” to one performing more efficiently at a higher stroke work. Alongside his studies, He was been working as a Specialty Registrar in Cardiology in Oxford, sub-specialising in Electrophysiology and Cardiac Devices.
