Re-defining Excellence - Oxford Anatomy and Physiology ranked #1 in the QS World University Rankings by subject 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

DPAG has once again been ranked world number one for Anatomy and Physiology in the 2023 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Head of Department Professor David Paterson said: "It is pleasing to see the department retain this prestigious spot thanks to the high performance of all members of staff."

Published annually, QS World Rankings by Subject uses five indicators to rank universities: academic reputation, which this year drew on responses from over 130,000 academics worldwide; employer reputation, which this year drew on more than 75,000 survey responses from graduate employers worldwide; research citations per paper, which reflects the most prevalent publication patterns in a given discipline; H-index, which measures both the productivity and impact of published work; and international research network (by broad faculty area). The IRN Index reflects the ability of institutions to diversify the geography of their international research network by establishing sustainable research partnerships with other higher education institutions. Read the full methodology here.

The Medical Sciences Division has once again been ranked second in the world, and the University of Oxford also came top in the subjects of English Language and Literature, Geography, and Anthropology. The University has been ranked fourth overall in the QS World University Rankings 2023.
