Alexander Jeans graduated in Medicine from the University of Cambridge and undertook house jobs in Cambridge and London. He entered Histopathology training in London as a Senior House Officer and then a Specialist Registrar. In 2001, he went to the laboratory of Professor Kay Davies in Oxford as a Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellow. Following the award of his D.Phil. in 2004, he moved to the John Radcliffe Hospital to complete his clinical training in Neuropathology, first as a Specialist Registrar and then as NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer. In 2009 he was awarded an MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship which he holds jointly in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics and the Department of Pharmacology. He is also an Honorary Consultant Neuropathologist at Charing Cross Hospital, London.
