Applications are invited for a 3-year post-doctoral training fellowship, with a start date in 2012. The successful applicant will work on collaborative projects between two OXION groups on the role of ion channels and diseases of electrically excitable cells.  Detailed information on the projects offered is available on the OXION website (http://oxion.dpag.ox.ac.uk/trainingfellowshipsandstudentships). Applicants, in consultation with the relevant groups, may also suggest alternative cross-disciplinary projects involving two or more OXION groups. It is expected that the successful applicant will have completed their PhD within the last six years, have a strong publication record and have the ability to work both as part of a team and independently.  The post will involve the analysis and interpretation of data and initiation of new experiments within the laboratory  based on these and published data. A good knowledge of statistics is also necessary. Training in a variety of techniques will be provided if required.

Fluency in English and willingness to assist with some teaching is also necessary. Candidates should also have a first degree of at least 2.1 classification or equivalent and a higher degree in a suitable discipline.
